Thomas Jefferson Building, Library of Congress

Completed in 1897, the Thomas Jefferson Building is the Library of Congress's oldest main building and a prominent example of Beaux-Arts architecture in Washington, D.C. Its Main Reading Room features a domed ceiling and extensive decorative murals, while the building's interior and exterior are richly ornamented with sculpture, mosaics, and inlaid stone. The building was part of the Library's expansion in the late 19th century and remains open to the public as part of the Library of Congress complex.
