Trinity House of Leith

Trinity House, located at 99 Kirkgate in Leith, Edinburgh, is a historic building that has served various roles including a guild hall, customs house, and center for maritime administration since its establishment in the Late Middle Ages. It is now a maritime museum and a category A listed building. The site has a rich history, dating back to 1380 when King Robert II granted rights to the Incorporation of Master and Mariners of Leith, which later became instrumental in maritime safety and education. The current neoclassical structure, designed by Thomas Brown and completed in 1818, incorporates elements from a 16th-century hospital.
