61 Molesworth Street

61 Molesworth Street, formerly known as ICI House and later Deloitte House, is a notable office building in Wellington, New Zealand, constructed in 1964 for Imperial Chemical Industries. Designed in a modernist style by Stephenson & Turner, the building featured two interconnected structures, with the main tower standing 9 storeys tall. It was recognized for its innovative use of natural light and its reflective glass facade that harmonized with the nearby Wellington Cathedral. The building served various tenants, including government offices, until it was damaged in the 2016 Kaikōura earthquake, leading to its demolition in early 2017. The site is now a car park, but the mural 'Copper Crystals' by Jim Allen was preserved and stored for future display.
