Eastern State Penitentiary's haunted reputation

Eastern State Penitentiary, opened in 1829 at 2027 Fairmount Ave and operational until 1971, pioneered the separate-system of solitary confinement and is now a historic site and museum. The penitentiary has long been associated with reports of ghost sightings, has hosted numerous paranormal investigations, and presents annual Halloween attractions marketed around its haunted reputation.
