Esmont

Esmont is a historic home located in Albemarle County, Virginia, built around 1818 in the Jeffersonian style. This two-story, three-bay structure features a distinctive low hipped roof and internal chimneys, complemented by a balustrade with alternating solid and Chinese lattice panels. The front facade boasts a full-length tetrastyle porch supported by Doric columns. The property also includes a brick kitchen, office, dairy, and smokehouse. Originally constructed for Dr. Charles Cocke, a relative of notable figure James Powell Cocke, Esmont was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1977, making it a significant site for both tourists and researchers interested in early American architecture and history.
