Governor's Mansion (Tobolsk, Russia)

The Governor's Mansion, also known as Kuklin House, is a historic building in Tobolsk, Russia, originally constructed in the 1790s by merchant Ivan Kuklin. This architectural gem, built in classicism style, served as the residence of the governor of Siberia until the February Revolution of 1917. It has hosted notable figures, including the exiled playwright August von Kotzebue and the former Russian Emperor Nicholas II, who was imprisoned here with his family before their tragic fate. The mansion is recognized as a federal historical monument and has been restored to house The Museum of the Family of Emperor Nicholas II, offering visitors a glimpse into Russia's imperial past and the turbulent history of the region.
