House of Sweden

The House of Sweden, located in the historic Georgetown neighborhood of Washington, D.C., serves as the embassy for Sweden and Iceland, as well as the representation for the Faroe Islands. This modernist architectural marvel, designed by Swedish architects Gert Wingårdh and Tomas Hansen, features a striking glass façade and incorporates Scandinavian design elements. Inaugurated in 2006 by King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia, the building not only hosts diplomatic offices but also includes exhibition spaces and corporate suites, making it a hub for Swedish commerce in the U.S. Visitors can appreciate its contemporary design and learn about the cultural ties between Sweden and the United States.
