Elfreth's Alley National Historic District

Elfreth's Alley is a preserved block of 32 houses dating primarily from 1728 to 1836 and is recognized as the nation's oldest continuously inhabited residential street. The Elfreth's Alley Museum and the historic homes illustrate early Philadelphia urban architecture and domestic life. The alley is designated a National Historic Landmark District and is a frequent subject for studies of colonial and Federal-period architecture.
