Calvert Mill/Washington Mill

The Calvert Mill, also known as the Old Mill, is a historic water-powered grinding mill located in Washington, Virginia, along the picturesque Rush River. Dating back to the late 18th century, the mill was owned by local landowner George Calvert, Jr. and features architectural additions from the 1840s and 1860s. Despite its historical significance and inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places in 1982, the mill has faced challenges and remains in disrepair since its purchase in 1979 by Peter Kramer, who intended to restore it. This site offers a glimpse into the region's industrial past and is of interest to both tourists and researchers alike.
