Benson Bubblers - Simon Benson's downtown drinking fountains

Businessman and philanthropist Simon Benson donated a series of bronze drinking fountains-known as Benson Bubblers-to the city of Portland in 1912 to provide clean drinking water for downtown workers. Multiple original Benson Bubblers remain in the downtown area, including examples located near the Multnomah County Central Library. The fountains have become a recognized historical feature of Portland's urban landscape.
