Kuélap

Kuélap is an impressive archaeological site in the mountains of Amazonas, Peru, built by the Chachapoyas culture in the 6th century AD. This ancient walled settlement, perched at an elevation of 3000 meters, features towering limestone walls, circular structures, and intricate stone carvings. Once home to around 3000 inhabitants, Kuélap was abandoned in the 16th century but rediscovered in the 19th century. Today, it is accessible via a cable car, offering visitors breathtaking views of the surrounding cloud forests and the Utcubamba Valley, making it a must-visit for tourists and researchers alike.
