Panther's Den

Panther's Den, also known as Kolheim House, is a historic house located in Venton, Somerset County, Maryland. This charming 1+1⁄2-story structure features Flemish bond brickwork and a striking wood-shingled gable roof. Originally built in the 18th century, it underwent significant enlargement and interior remodeling between 1830 and 1850. The property also includes a unique pyramidal-roofed dairy, a board-and-batten tack house, and a family burial plot, making it a fascinating site for both tourists and researchers interested in early American architecture and history. Panther's Den was recognized for its historical significance by being listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.
