John Hancock Tower - tallest building in New England

200 Clarendon Street, commonly called the John Hancock Tower and designed by I. M. Pei, is the tallest building in New England at 790 feet. Completed in 1976, its minimalist glass façade is notable for reflecting the Back Bay but experienced early construction problems, including windows that detached and required a high-profile remediation. The tower remains a prominent example of late-20th-century modernist architecture in Boston.
