Gilmanton Academy

Gilmanton Academy, built in 1894, is a historic school building located in Gilmanton, New Hampshire. As one of the last 19th-century academy buildings in the state, it showcases a unique architectural design with a cruciform shape and elegant detailing, including fluted pilasters and a pedimented gable. Originally founded in 1794 as a private school, the academy transitioned to serve as a public high school and later an elementary school until 1966. Today, it houses town offices and the local historical society, making it a significant landmark for visitors interested in local history and architecture. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.
