René C. Davidson Courthouse

The René C. Davidson Courthouse, also known as the Alameda County Court House, is a historic art deco building completed in 1934, located in Oakland, California, adjacent to the picturesque Lake Merritt. This courthouse serves as the main facility for the Alameda County Superior Court system and has a rich history, including the notable Chauncey Bailey murder trial. Originally housing the entire court system, it replaced an older courthouse and was named in honor of René C. Davidson, a longtime Clerk-County Recorder.
