Fraunces Tavern ghost lore

Fraunces Tavern, located at 54 Pearl Street, is an 18th-century building where George Washington delivered his 1783 farewell to the Continental Army; it now houses a museum and restaurant. Because of its Revolutionary-era history and long continuous use, the tavern has been included on numerous New York ghost tours and in publications recounting alleged unexplained sounds and sightings. Such stories form part of the site's popular legend and remain anecdotal rather than established fact.
