Herndon Building

The Herndon Building, located in the Sweet Auburn Historic District of Atlanta, Georgia, was a notable three-story L-shaped brick structure completed in 1925. Recognizable by its large 'H' on the facade, it served various professional purposes, including housing a doctor's office and pharmacy. Unfortunately, the building fell into disrepair and was ultimately demolished in 2008 following severe damage from a tornado. It was one of three historic properties linked to Alonzo Herndon, a prominent African American businessman, alongside the Atlanta Life Insurance Company Building and the Rucker Building. The site is currently owned by the Butler Street YMCA, which has yet to announce future plans for the area.
