Boneyard Beach tree skeletons at Big Talbot Island

Big Talbot Island State Park's Boneyard Beach is known for exposed, bleached tree skeletons-uprooted and weathered trunks and roots of live oaks, cedars, and other maritime trees-created by coastal erosion and tidal action. The shoreline displays a striking, well-documented natural phenomenon that is frequently photographed and studied for coastal processes and tree mortality. The site is managed by Florida State Parks and lies within the Timucuan Ecological & Historic Preserve.
