Hobson's Choice (Alberta, Virginia)

Hobson's Choice is a historic home located near Alberta, Virginia, built in the Palladian style around 1794 by Dr. Richard Feild for his bride Ann Meade. This one-story brick structure features a central pavilion with flanking wings in a late-Georgian style and has undergone several additions over the years. Dr. Feild, an Edinburgh-educated physician with interests in botany and astronomy, played a significant role in his community and served as a Presidential elector. The plantation remained in the Feild family until 1870 and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980, making it a notable site for tourists and researchers interested in early American architecture and history.
