California Theatre of the Performing Arts

The California Theatre opened in 1927 as a downtown movie palace and was restored and reopened in 2004 as a performing arts venue. The historic theater hosts concerts, dance, film screenings, and touring theatrical productions and is an anchor of San José's cultural scene. Its 1920s-era architecture and marquee remain distinctive features of downtown First Street.
