Balmy Alley Murals

Balmy Alley in the Mission District contains a dense concentration of community and political murals, many created beginning in the 1980s that address Central American politics, human rights and local social issues. The alley’s murals have been produced and stewarded by local artists and groups and are documented in cultural and academic sources on muralism. Balmy Alley remains an active site of evolving public mural art in San Francisco.
