Albion Hotel, Braidwood

The Albion Hotel, built around 1872, is a heritage-listed former hotel located in Braidwood, New South Wales. Once the town's leading hotel, it hosted grand parties and served as a stop on the Cobb and Co route. The hotel features distinctive Victorian architecture, including a two-storey veranda and original interior elements. After closing in 1933, it was repurposed into a general store and later restored in the 1980s, now housing retail shops and apartments. The site also includes adjoining 1920s shops and historic stables. The Albion Cafe operates in the former hotel premises, and the building has appeared in films such as 'The Year My Voice Broke' and 'Ned Kelly'. It was added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register in 1999, making it a notable attraction for tourists and researchers interested in Australian history and architecture.
