Palace of Fine Arts from the 1915 exposition

The Palace of Fine Arts was constructed for the 1915 Panama-Pacific International Exposition and remains one of the few surviving monumental structures from that event. The original decorative façades deteriorated and were reconstructed in permanent materials in the 1960s, and the site has since undergone major preservation and seismic work. Its rotunda, colonnades, and lagoon are a commonly photographed San Francisco landmark and serve as a public event and exhibition space.
