City Tavern (reconstructed 18th‑century tavern)

The original City Tavern, established in the 18th century on Second Street, was a prominent colonial tavern frequented by delegates and other notable Philadelphians. The structure on the site was reconstructed in the 1970s using archaeological and documentary research to recreate the tavern's Georgian interior and dining rooms. The rebuilt City Tavern now operates as a historic restaurant and museum interpreting 18th‑century culinary and social history in Philadelphia.
