Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church (Chatham, Iowa)

Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church is a historic structure in Chatham, Iowa, notable for its unique architectural style that resembles a schoolhouse rather than a traditional church. Built in 1853, it was founded by Rev. James S. Fullerton and Elder Vaughn, and the congregation initially met in a log schoolhouse. The current building, completed for $2,910.35, features pointed Gothic arch windows and was constructed by local craftsmen. Although the congregation disbanded in 2014, the church was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2017 and is now a museum and community center, making it a point of interest for tourists and researchers alike.
