Evans Music-and-Supper Rooms

Evans Music-and-Supper Rooms was a renowned entertainment venue in Covent Garden, London, during the early 19th century, originally established as the Thomas Archer House in 1712. It evolved from a dining room into a vibrant 'song and supper' room in the 1840s under W. H. Evans, later gaining fame for its lively performances featuring choir boys and comic singers. The venue was a male-only establishment until the 1860s and was frequented by notable figures like William Makepeace Thackeray. Despite its popularity, it closed in 1880, but its legacy continued with the Players' Theatre Club reviving music hall traditions in the 1930s.
