Navarre–Anderson Trading Post

The Navarre–Anderson Trading Post, located in Frenchtown Charter Township, Michigan, is a historic site recognized for its significance as one of the oldest trading post complexes in the region. Established by early French settlers in 1789, the main building is considered the oldest surviving wooden residential structure in Michigan. The site includes a cookhouse built in 1810 and a replica barn from the 1790s. After being relocated twice to preserve its history, the complex has been restored to reflect its 1799 appearance. It is now managed by the Monroe County Historical Museum and offers special events and group tours, making it a fascinating destination for tourists and researchers interested in early American history.
