Old State House (1713)

The Old State House at 206 Washington Street was built in 1713 and is one of the oldest surviving public buildings in the United States. It served as the seat of Massachusetts colonial government and continued to house state business until the new Massachusetts State House opened in 1798. The building overlooks the location associated with the 1770 Boston Massacre and retains architectural features from its 18th-century construction through restorations.
