Fair-Rutherford and Rutherford Houses

The Fair-Rutherford and Rutherford Houses are historic homes located in Columbia, South Carolina, representing significant architectural and cultural heritage. The Fair-Rutherford House, constructed around 1850, underwent several renovations before its demolition in 2004. In contrast, the two-story Rutherford House, built in 1924-25, is still standing and currently serves as an office for Palmetto Dental Services. Both houses are linked to the prominent African American Rutherford family and highlight the rich history of the area, with the Rutherford House being listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1984.
