Academy of Music - Oldest U.S. opera house in continuous use

The Academy of Music opened in 1857 and is the oldest opera house in the United States still in use. It served as the primary home of the Philadelphia Orchestra from the orchestra's founding in 1900 until the ensemble moved to the Kimmel Center in 2001. The theater has hosted countless operas, concerts, and premieres and remains the home of Opera Philadelphia.
