Samuel Hieatt House

The Samuel Hieatt House, built around 1850 and located five miles north of Smithfield, Kentucky, is a remarkable example of Greek Revival architecture. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982, this two-story brick home features a grand portico with Ionic columns and an unaltered interior showcasing a stunning walnut spiral staircase. The house's symmetrical design includes identical square rooms, original faux marbling, and massive nine-foot doors. Historically significant, Samuel Hieatt, the original owner, maintained a neutral stance during the Civil War, providing shelter to both Union and Confederate soldiers.
