Lincoln Memorial-Daniel Chester French sculpture

The Lincoln Memorial features a 19-foot seated marble sculpture of Abraham Lincoln carved by Daniel Chester French and was dedicated in 1922. The memorial's interior walls are inscribed with the Gettysburg Address and Lincoln's Second Inaugural Address. The structure is a neoclassical temple with a 36-column peristyle representing the states in the Union at Lincoln's death.
