E.S. Levy Building

The E.S. Levy Building, also known as the National Hotel Building, is a historic site located in Galveston, Texas. Originally the Tremont Opera House, it was transformed into a department store in 1896 by E.S. Levy & Co. and designed by architect Charles Bulger, marking a significant architectural shift in the area. The building features a distinctive brown brick facade and was expanded with an additional floor in 1908. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2003 and underwent redevelopment in 2001, preserving its vintage windows and addressing storm damage with support from the Texas Preservation Trust Fund. Today, it stands as a testament to Galveston's rich history and architectural evolution.
