National Museum of African American Music

The National Museum of African American Music (NMAAM) opened in downtown Nashville in 2021 to document and celebrate the contributions of African Americans to American musical forms. The museum's galleries trace genres from African roots through blues, jazz, gospel, R&B, hip-hop, and beyond, with artifacts, interactive exhibits, and oral histories. Musicians, scholars, and fans travel to NMAAM as a destination for education and commemoration of African American musical heritage. The museum is located on Broadway in the heart of Nashville's music district.
