Hohokam ruins and lost mythic traditions at Pueblo Grande

Pueblo Grande Museum & Archaeological Park preserves earthen platform mounds and Hohokam canal remains within Phoenix, documenting a pre-Columbian irrigation society active from roughly 450–1450 CE. Archaeologists study artifacts and iconography from the site to infer elements of Hohokam cosmology and ritual practices, but many of the tribe's specific mythic narratives were not recorded and are considered lost. The park interprets these findings for the public through exhibits and educational programs.
