Winter Place

Winter Place is a historic complex in Montgomery, Alabama, featuring two conjoined houses built between the 1850s and 1870s. The North House, designed in the Italianate style, served as the home of the Joseph S. Winter family, while the Second Empire style South House was home to Winter's daughter and her husband. After years of neglect, the property was added to the Alabama Historical Commission's Places in Peril list in 2004 and underwent restoration efforts starting in 2006. In 2018, real-estate tycoon Benjamin Blanchard acquired the property, aiming to restore its historical significance and contribute to the revitalization of the Five Points neighborhood. The South House was fully renovated as his residence in 2020, with plans for the North House to follow.
