Folger Shakespeare Library

The Folger Shakespeare Library, founded by Henry Clay Folger and Emily Folger, opened its current building on Capitol Hill in 1932 and houses the world's largest collection of Shakespearean materials. Its holdings include 82 copies of the First Folio and extensive manuscripts, early printed books, and rare theatrical artifacts. The institution supports scholarly research, public exhibitions, and theatrical performances in its theater and reading rooms.
