Ocean City Life-Saving Station (New Jersey)

The Ocean City Life-Saving Station, a historic site in New Jersey, is the only remaining life-saving station of its design in the state and one of just six in the country. Built in 1886 in Carpenter Gothic style by architect James Lake Parkinson, this station was crucial in the 19th century for rescuing shipwreck victims along the New Jersey coast. Originally located near the beach, it now sits about a quarter mile inland due to sand accumulation. After serving various roles, including a private residence and a storage facility during WWII, it was renovated and reopened as the Ocean City Life-Saving Museum in 2017.
