Huis Janssens

Huis Janssens is a historic mansion and museum located in Sint-Niklaas, Belgium, originally commissioned in 1878 by textile manufacturer Alfons Janssens. Designed by architect Pieter Van Kerkhove, the eclectic building was donated to the city in the early 20th century with the stipulation that it serve as a venue for art and science. Following renovations that began in 2016, the mansion now houses a museum and library operated by the Koninklijke Oudheidkundige Kring van het Land van Waas. It is part of a larger museum complex that includes the Mercator Museum and SteM Zwijgershoek, and its former garden has been transformed into the beautiful Mercator Park. The building has been protected since 2005, making it a significant cultural landmark for visitors and researchers alike.
