Balboa Park Botanical Building (lath-structure installation)

The Botanical Building in Balboa Park was constructed for the 1915–1916 Panama-California Exposition and is one of the world's largest lath structures. It houses more than 2,100 plant specimens arranged in formal beds beneath its wooden lath roof, with a prominent lily pond on the plaza in front. The building is a designated historic landmark and continues to function as a major public horticultural installation and popular photographic site in San Diego.
