Omni Parker House (historic hotel architecture)

The Omni Parker House hotel opened in 1855 on School Street and is one of Boston's oldest continuously operating hotels; its long-running presence documents mid-19th-century commercial hospitality on a central municipal block. The hotel hosted notable literary and political figures in the 19th and early 20th centuries and is associated with the creation of the Parker House roll and Boston cream pie. The building's successive renovations preserve its role as a landmark of Boston's urban architectural and social history.
