Page-Vawter House

The Page-Vawter House, a historic Victorian mansion in Ansted, West Virginia, was constructed between 1889 and 1890 for William Nelson Page, president of the Gauley Mountain Coal Company. Designed by architect William Minter in a striking Gothic style, the house features 15 rooms, 11 unique fireplaces, and 52 tall windows. It served as the birthplace of plans for the Virginian Railway, known as the 'Richest Little Railroad in the World.' After being home to the Vawter family for generations, the mansion underwent a complete restoration in 2007 and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985, making it a significant site for both tourists and researchers interested in West Virginia's coal history.
