Sutro Baths ruins at Lands End

The Sutro Baths, opened in 1896 by Adolph Sutro, were an extensive public saltwater swimming complex featuring multiple pools and a glass-enclosed structure that could accommodate thousands of visitors. The facility operated into the mid-20th century and was largely destroyed by fire in 1966; its stone walls and foundation remain as ruins integrated into Lands End. The site is part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area and is interpreted for its role in San Francisco's recreational and coastal history.
