Bunker Hill Monument misnomer (most fighting on Breed's Hill)

The Bunker Hill Monument commemorates the June 17, 1775 battle commonly called the Battle of Bunker Hill, but most of the combat actually took place on nearby Breed's Hill. Contemporary records and later histories note that the name 'Bunker Hill' was used in reports and persisted as the common name despite the geographic inaccuracy. The granite obelisk stands in Monument Square as a memorial to the battle.
