Hartford Times Building

The Hartford Times Building, completed in 1920, is a stunning example of Beaux-Arts architecture located in downtown Hartford, Connecticut. Designed by architect Donn Barber, it originally served as the headquarters for the influential Hartford Times newspaper. The building features a grand colonnade inspired by Parisian architecture and incorporates salvaged elements from the demolished Madison Square Presbyterian Church in Manhattan. Inside, visitors can admire original murals by Connecticut artist Ralph Milne Calder. Historically significant, the building has hosted speeches by four U.S. presidents and has undergone various redevelopment proposals. In 2017, it was transformed into a new campus for the University of Connecticut, blending historical significance with modern educational use.
