The Phoenix Lights (1997) sightings

On March 13, 1997, thousands of people across Phoenix reported seeing a formation of lights and a large V-shaped object passing over the city in an event now known as the Phoenix Lights. Witnesses reported views from many neighborhoods and from areas near Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport; Arizona governor Fife Symington later publicly commented that he had seen one of the objects. Explanations remain disputed-Air Force briefings later attributed some lights to military flares while many witnesses describe a structured craft-making the incident a major piece of Phoenix local lore.
