Coit Tower murals and Telegraph Hill landmark

Coit Tower, completed in 1933 atop Telegraph Hill, is a 210-foot concrete tower that is a prominent San Francisco landmark. The interior houses murals painted in 1934 by a group of local artists funded by the Public Works of Art Project, depicting scenes of California life during the Depression era. The tower and the murals are frequently cited in discussions of New Deal-era public art in the city.
