Tovrea Castle ("Wedding Cake" Castle)

Tovrea Castle, constructed in 1928–29 and commonly called the "Wedding Cake Castle," is a distinctive stone and concrete castle-like structure perched on a man-made hill east of downtown Phoenix. The City of Phoenix manages the castle and its surrounding cactus gardens as a historic landmark and offers guided tours by reservation. Its Mediterranean/Italianate castle form and hilltop siting make it an unusual and recognizable landmark in the city.
