Turnham Hall

Turnham Hall is a historic building located in Cliffe, near Selby in North Yorkshire, England. Originally built possibly by Robert de Turnham during the reign of Richard I, it features a rich history with a license to crenellate granted in 1477. The hall has undergone several renovations, including significant rebuilding around 1600 and extensive extensions in the early 19th century. The structure is notable for its brick construction, two storeys, and distinctive architectural elements such as a hipped slate roof and ornate central doorway. The property is surrounded by a moat that was visible until the 19th century and includes two ancillary Grade II listed buildings: a late-18th century coach house and an agricultural warehouse. Turnham Hall was designated as a Grade II listed building in 1998, making it a point of interest for tourists and researchers alike.
