Magee Farm

Magee Farm, also known as the Jacob Magee House, is a historic site located in Kushla, Alabama, built in 1848. This 1+1⁄2-story wood-frame structure exemplifies the Gulf Coast Cottage style and is notable for being the location where Confederate General Richard Taylor negotiated a ceasefire with Union General Edward Canby on April 29, 1865, marking the surrender of the last Confederate Army east of the Mississippi River. The farm was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1988 and briefly operated as a museum after preservation efforts in 2004. However, it closed in 2010 due to financial challenges and is now listed as a site in peril.
